Connecting Australasian industry with SKA’s next generation technologies.

SKA: the road to the Centre of the Universe – John Goldsmith, ICRAR/Curtin PhD Student – Perth 2009

As a key Australasian industry body, ASKAIC assumes an influential strategic and tactical role in supporting the Australasian SKA Coordination Committee (ANZSCC) through the following objectives:

  • Support for SKA’s pre-construction phase (design and development)
  • Maximising its non-research benefits – in areas such as renewable energy, ICT, manufacturing & systems engineering etc.
  • Fostering Australia-New Zealand industry/research collaboration, both for SKA and beyond
  • PromotingAustralasia’s international position as a regional leader in advanced technology development

The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project presents a unique opportunity forAustralasiato play a lead role in one of the world’s greatest scientific facilities. Industry welcomes this opportunity; recognising that a strong, globally-connected partnership between industry, government and research inAustraliaandNew Zealandis necessary for a successful SKA outcome..

This collaboration, offered via ASKAIC, is a global exemplar of the way in which the public and private sectors can work together productively in pursuit of a common goal.
